Textile Step and Repeat

What?

In version 6.3.3 we have changed the way the RIP handles textile step and repeated files received from Editor or Layout. When the ‘Split into Individual Pages’ option is switched on in Layout this will trigger In-RIP repeating and no longer render the entire job. This results in a significantly faster processing speed of Step & Repeated images. If using PrintStation, the length of the job can also be adjusted without the need to re-process the job.

How?

In order to activate the In-Rip repeating of Textile Step and Repeated images you must tick on the ‘Split into Individual Pages’ option found in the Alignment/Nesting window:

You must also ensure that no other image marks such as registration marks, border, labels or cut marks are added. Below is an example or a Textile Step and Repeated pattern with Split into individual pages switched on:

Now, lets see what happens when we send this job to the RIP:

We can see that the only the first line has ripped, but the entire Step & Repeat will be printed. This process greatly reduces the processing time of the job, but has no affect on the printed result.

Now, lets look at the same job in a PrintStation:

In a regular job when we drag and drop onto the PrintStation canvas it would ask us how many copies we would like to print, however, for a Textile Step and Repeat job it will ask us for the length to produce instead. If left untouched it will print the length designated in Layout/Editor, or you can input a different length. If a new length is entered it will print the Step & Repeat at that length without having to re-process the job:
