How to setup a cross-cable peer-to-peer mini-network between the computer and the printer.
First of all, connect physically a crossover cable to the network connectors of both the computer and the printer.
On the printer:
Set the Ip 192.168.100.1 and the subnet 255.255.255.0 (for further indication please follow the manufacturer printer manual for setting up the TCP/IP connection).
On the computer:
On MacOS:
- Go to System Preferences
- Go to Network->Built-in Ethernet and set the IP Address to 192.168.100.2 and the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0
- Click “Apply”
- Close the System Preferences
On Windows:
- Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Local Area Connection.
- Right mouse click on “Local Area Connection”, and select “Properties”. The “Local Area Connection Properties” dialog box shows up.
- Select “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” and make it checked.
- Select “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” and click the Properties button. The “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties” dialog box shows up.
- Select “Use the following IP address” and make it checked. Enter “192.168.100.2 ” in the IP address field. Enter “255.255.255.0” in the subnet mask field.
- Click the OK button to close the “Local Area Connection Properties” dialog box.
- Click the Close button to close the “Local Area Connection Properties” dialog box.
