Driver Settings changed unexpectedly

There are two methods of using the RIP.

  1. Using Printer Media Mode
  2. Using a Queue

Printer Media Mode (PMM):

  • A job can be produced by using the Printer, Media, Mode option. Needed is an calibration document (.pmm) and a RIP. There is no need to setup a Queue.
  • To override the changeable settings, Jobs can be send by the editor.
    • Sending from the production-dialog. First choose printer, Media (not a queue) and Mode. Behind the printer-chooser popup there is a button containing “Gear wheel”. Using this button a dialog containing the changeable settings will popup. You can make changes and ok these settings and produce the job. The job will be produced with these settings. None changeable settings cannot be changed by the editor.
    • Sending from the quick-production dialog. First choose printer, Media (not a queue) and Mode. In this dialog there is also a “Gear wheel” button. Using this button a dialog containing the changeable settings will popup. You can make changes and ok these settings and produce the job. The job will be produced with these settings. None changeable settings cannot be changed by the editor.
  • Sending the job these settings will be saved beside the Rip and every editor using this Printer media mode combination will be using the latest saved settings. They can be changed by using the “Gear wheel” button again.

Queue:

  • To construct a Queue first of all a Printer-Media-Mode should be made. During the Queue-setup an Media and mode combination is chosen and in the Queue-setup dialog you’re able to make last minute changes in the driver settings. This can easily been done for changeable settings like “Feed adjust” or “cut after print”. Or by removing the lock for none changeable settings (not advisable)
  • Sending a job to a queue the settings defined in this queue are used.
  • To override the changeable settings, Jobs can be send by the editor.
    • Sending from the production-dialog. Be aware to select the Printer in the printer popup and the Queue in the Media popup. The Mode popup is not of interest. Behind the printer-chooser popup there is a button containing “Gear wheel”. Using this button a dialog containing the changeable settings will popup. You can make changes and ok these settings and produce the job. The job will be produced with these settings. None changeable settings cannot be changed by the editor.
    • Sending from the quick-production dialog. Be aware to select the Printer in the printer popup and the Queue in the Media popup. The Mode popup is not of interest. In this dialog there is also a “Gear wheel” button. Using this button a dialog containing the changeable settings will popup. You can make changes and ok these settings and produce the job. The job will be produced with these settings. None changeable settings cannot be changed by the editor.
  • Settings are not saved, so the dialog containing the changeable setting will by default always open with the default settings of the queue. To make the changes permanent please change the queue it’s driver settings.
